YOM ACHDUT - UNITY DAY

YOM ACHDUT - UNITY DAY

WEDNESDAY 1ST JUNE - 5 PM - 9.30 PM AT ST KILDA TOWN HALL

Cost $5  or $20 family

At 7.15 pm - 7.40 pm, ZOOZ will perform a few lively Israeli dances, followed by a short session of Community Dancing. We hope you can join us in supporting MDA in this wonderful initiative......see below.....

 MAGEN DAVID ADOM (MDA) ........

" Inspired by the sense of unity that engulfed the Jewish world at the time of the kidnapping  (& tragic murders) of the 3 teenage boys, Eyal, Gilad and Naftali, communities around the world are encouraged to come together on June 1st.

This will be a day to consciously derive strength from our wholeness, uniting across labels, across divisions and across communities. A day that will be known as “Unity Day” (Yom Achdut) It is imperative to our very survival as a nation – as a people – to understand that what divides us is insignificant compared to what we hold in common.

The Jewish people as a whole are many-coloured, multi-faceted, and come in every shape, size, language, nationality, political leaning and temperament. That diversity is our strength and a strength that we actualize only when we respect and accept that we are not the same – and that we are all the better for it. On Unity Day, the idea is “come as you are”.

Here in Melbourne, Magen David Adom Victoria will be putting on an event and encouraging the community to celebrate our Jewish identity at our Tel Aviv Street Festival event on Wednesday, June 1st, with a range of music, food, arts & crafts and more.

Currently we have booked St Kilda Town Hall to hold the event.
We will be having
 Music (DJ and possibly a band)
 “Israeli Street Food” Stall
 Henna Stall
 Arts & Crafts Stalls
 “Shuk” Stand – selling market food

We are wanting to make this event a celebration of Jewish life, culture and unity as well as celebrating the memory of Eyal, Gil-ad and Naftali and really bring the Jewish Community together here in Melbourne."

ZOOZ 4th ANNUAL MARATHON

PLEASE NOTE: OUR MARATHON HAS BEEN POSTPONED TO A LATER DATE…..

This year we are now having our Annual Marathon on Good Friday (March 25th)  Please see attached flyer……
It was during our 1st marathon in March 2013, that I learned the tragic news that my best friend’s daughter, Hadar z”l, had passed away as a result of a freak car accident whilst on her honeymoon in Barcelona.
I made a pledge that I would honour Hadar & keep her memory alive,  by holding each subsequent ZOOZ marathon in her name.

Little did we know that we would also lose our beloved son, Paul z’l, in December 2013, as a result of accidental drowning…..

Both Paul z”l, & Hadar z”l,  were very special young people. They shared many common traits & both touched so many lives all around the world.
Yes, Sam, Belinda & I, have been completely grief stricken & heartbroken……
Yes, it has been extremely tough for us to keep moving forward & to keep teaching & keep dancing, despite the pain we are in….but it is all part of our healing process.
We had to find the strength to continue, because we knew that this is what Paul z’l,& Hadar z”l would want of us. Both were passionate about dancing & sport.

We have made a conscious decision to live in the sunshine of Paul & Hadar’s lives, not in the shadow of their deaths.

Thank you dearest dancers for supporting our grieving family whilst we are on a sacred journey we never wished to take. We certainly couldn’t do it without you.

We do hope you will continue to support us & come along to our 4th Marathon to help us to remember & honour these 2 special people & most importantly, to CELEBRATE LIFE.
Please tell your friends to come along & join us for another great & FUN marathon - ALL VERY WELCOME.

LOVE IS THE KEY……
