 MAGEN DAVID ADOM (MDA) ........

" Inspired by the sense of unity that engulfed the Jewish world at the time of the kidnapping  (& tragic murders) of the 3 teenage boys, Eyal, Gilad and Naftali, communities around the world are encouraged to come together on June 1st.

This will be a day to consciously derive strength from our wholeness, uniting across labels, across divisions and across communities. A day that will be known as “Unity Day” (Yom Achdut) It is imperative to our very survival as a nation – as a people – to understand that what divides us is insignificant compared to what we hold in common.

The Jewish people as a whole are many-coloured, multi-faceted, and come in every shape, size, language, nationality, political leaning and temperament. That diversity is our strength and a strength that we actualize only when we respect and accept that we are not the same – and that we are all the better for it. On Unity Day, the idea is “come as you are”.

Here in Melbourne, Magen David Adom Victoria will be putting on an event and encouraging the community to celebrate our Jewish identity at our Tel Aviv Street Festival event on Wednesday, June 1st, with a range of music, food, arts & crafts and more.

Currently we have booked St Kilda Town Hall to hold the event.
We will be having
 Music (DJ and possibly a band)
 “Israeli Street Food” Stall
 Henna Stall
 Arts & Crafts Stalls
 “Shuk” Stand – selling market food

We are wanting to make this event a celebration of Jewish life, culture and unity as well as celebrating the memory of Eyal, Gil-ad and Naftali and really bring the Jewish Community together here in Melbourne."
