Belinda and Richelle spent the day between the 2 schools teaching dances to students of all ages. At Mt Scopus Gandel Besen House we spent the morning with all 300 students from Prep to Grade 3 in the school hall. Working with a mass of students proved smoother and easier than we anticipated with all 300 kids excitedly learning new steps and moving in time to the music for 3 specialty children’s line dances we introduced, appropriate for Yom Ha’atzmaut. From where we were standing up on the stage looking down at the crowd it looked incredible.
We finished on a high with 20 or so Grade 3 girls joining us up on the stage to help demonstrate. Thank you to all the Scopus staff and parent helpers who were invaluable to us on the day. Your enthusiasm rubbed off on the kids as well and we hope the kids had a ball!
At Bialik we spent one hour with Year 7-10 students in the amphitheatre teaching a variety of dances that were new and inspiring to the kids. Thanks to Bialik’s excellent sound system, the whole school could hear the beat of the music and there were plenty of teachers and students who came out for a ‘look’ at what was going on. Throughout the extended lunchtime we danced in the school hall (too wet to stay in the amphitheatre) and even taught a few more dances. This was open to all year levels and was a heap of fun! It has been great to see some of the kids at our regular Children’s classes as a result. Thank you again to the staff at Bialik for inviting us and for your assistance throughout the day.
