THE FRIENDS OF BEIT HALOCHEM VICTORIA
Zahal Disabled Veterans Organisation Since Israel’s very first war which resulted in injuries to so many of its soldiers, Israel has taken the need the rehabilitate the injured seriously. The ZDVO was established following the war of independence (1949) with the purpose of providing the 6,000 disabled veterans of that war with all their needs towards the long process of rehabilitation. Since that time, thousands of new members who were wounded during their service have joined the organization’s ranks, which today number over 50,000. In the last decade, due to terror attacks, civilians have also found themselves standing in the front line, injured side by side with soldiers. As a result of this ZDVO has now taken on the added responsibility of rehabilitating victims of terror. Today, civilian victims of terror can be equal members of the 3 Beit Halochem centres and benefit from the many activities held there. ZDVO Goals and Objectives:
- Improve the quality of life of its members, to safeguard their legal rights and promote their interests through legislation or economic and social measures
- Build a supportive atmosphere, which will help them resume their normal lives as quickly as possible
- Foster the full reintegration of the veterans into society by establishing sports and rehabilitation centers and offering a comprehensive range of services to its members and their families.
Friends of Beit Halochem Victoria provide a real link to Israel and a genuine ability to assist those who have paid such a heavy price. Please join with us in “Helping to Recreate Lives”.
